Filters: Active & Inactive Companies Included

This is the Person Map for the combined network of two Person nodes: John Doerr and Michael Moritz. A filter has been applied to this network to allow inactive companies to be included as well as active companies. The default setting is to only include the active companies, but sometimes it is informative to see the connections that arise from past investments that are no longer active. This may sound strange because no Company nodes are visible in the Person Map, but think about how the inclusion of additional companies (the inactive companies) will allow for more connections to be present between the Boards of Directors and Management Teams of the companies in the network. Even though we cannot see the additional nodes in the Person Map, the added linkages (that are visible in the Relational Map) create more connections between the Person nodes in this map.

In this network there is a visible difference between the nodes connected to Michael Moritz and the nodes connected to John Doerr. The nodes around Moritz are all arranged radially and only with one link to the node for Moritz. This is a simpler structure than how the nodes are arranged around John Doerr's node. Around Doerr's node there is some clustering where the nodes are connected to one another as well as to Doerr. This is a more interesting and complex structure, and it may be valuable to go to the Relational Map to see what companies in common are causing those clustering effects.
